Instructions to authors

Format and preparation of manuscripts

   - New Author Guidelines (v 2.0, 2012)

   - Article's Template

Submission of manuscripts
From January 2012 articles may only be submitted electronically through journal Motricidade’s OJS (Open Journal Systems) platform, accessible here. New users must previously register. After logging-in, authors must provide the information required and proceed to submitting the manuscript. Such process takes five steps:

1. After selecting the link Submissions online, it is necessary to indicate the article's type/section, the main language of the manuscript and accepting the general conditions for submission. One may also write down some optional comments to the editors, such as, for instance, indicating the scientific area of the manuscript submitted.

2. Step two asks for the submission of the final version of the manuscript according to the periodical guidelines. Such document must not contain any sort of identification of its authors or its properties.

3. After uploading the document, it must be provided complete information on how to contact all of the authors (name, surname, institution, address, e-mail). Information will also be required on the corresponding author, the one responsible for establishing contact with the editors and to maintain the coauthors informed on decisions and changes related to the manuscript. Presentation of a title, abstract (up to 200 words) and keywords in the main language of the submission are required in this step.

4. Step four is optional and allows for the uploading of supplementary documents that the authors consider to be an asset for the evaluation/review of the manuscript. The letter of submission and corresponding mandatory attachments, explained below, must not be uploaded during step 4.

5. Step five requires the corresponding author to confirm the correct submission of the manuscript and register its identification (ID). Such ID must be used in all future contacts with the editors in relation to the submitted manuscript.

After verifying that the manuscript was correctly submitted, the corresponding author must send, within 24 hours, an e-mail to the editors (editor.motricidade@gmail.com, motricidade.hmf@gmail.com) indicating in subject the ID attributed to the manuscript by the OJS platform. The e-mail must include the following mandatory attachments: (i) letter of presentation/submission; (ii) detailed announcement of authorship/contribution; (iii) statement of transfer of copyright; (iv) statement of the ethical committee.

The editors will acknowledge the correct uploading of the manuscript and supplementary documents and will provide guidance on how to proceed. Guidance may involve the need to reviewing guidelines or the formatting of the manuscript or may just inform on the transfer of the manuscript to the referees. Failing to send the e-mail containing the mandatory attachments leads to the rejection of the manuscript.

In case the authors have submitted or published other articles in some way related to the submitted manuscript to journal Motricidade, those must also be sent and the distinctions among them must be clearly pointed out.
